The friendliest welcome, attentive staff, beautifully decorated and comfortable surroundings and outstanding food.
Whilst Keswick has a good range of restaurants, some of the more highly recommended of which, my Wife and I ate at during our recent visit to Keswick to celebrate our anniversary, they don't get any better than the Highfield Restaurant.
For less than £40 per person...

My wife and I were in Keswick for the annual Jazz Festival on her birthday and I took her to the Highfield as a treat. I can only say that, with the exception of our pre-prandial Fino's being unchilled, our meal (4 course Table d'Hote) could scarcely have been better. I had a twice-baked goat's cheese souffle and duck breast,...

I was a little concerned when we turned up at the hotel and found that the dinner was £29.50 for two courses. I needn't have worried. The food was truly superb - far better than anything else we had eaten in Keswick. The "two" courses included hors d'ouvres before we sat down, a pleasant sorbet followed by the main course...

I cannot praise this restaurant enough. Exceptional location with uninterupted views down the Borrowdale valley, brilliant staff - all very helpful and attentive, but not intrusive, and excellent food to boot. Couple that with an excellent wine list then you have the makings of an evening to remember.
I for one will be going back when next in the area...

Having booked dinner in the Highfield Restaurant to celebrate a big birthday, I was rather apprehensive having read the previous review. However, I should not have worried - our evening was perfect in every way. We began with drinks on the balcony looking out at the view, which is stunning. The meal was wonderful - everything was cooked to perfection...

Nick and his team were FANTASTIC, nothing was too much trouble for them. We booked a table for 5 of us for my partners birthday after reading the reviews on here.
Between us we ordered nearly 1 of everything off of the menu as it all sounded so delicious we wanted to taste as much as possible. We were not...

Sophisticated cuisine at accessible prices with a very reasonably priced wine list. This is really "fine dining" in Keswick. If you like Morrel's (and we do) walk the extra 100 yards and you'll find an even better dining experience at possibly a more reasonable price and - as the days get longer - the possibility of a superb view along...
