A friend from the Upper West Side buys his bread there and we tagged along. The bakery is located a couple of steps down from the street level in a tiny shop. Not a place to sit down and eat something - but the cookies ... oh my God! Went back the next day just to pick up another cookie....

Yum! Out of the way, but the walk on 74th street is lovely, so we didn't mind it.

Made a point to go way out of our visiting area to try these top-rated cookies. VERY disappointed with the texture. We ordered 3 types (choc walnut, choc peanut butter, oat raisin) and found that these heavy cookies were dry and not full of flavor. The choc walnut was the best of the 3 with some gooey choc in the...

My wife and I walked about a mile and a half and it was def. worth every bit. The cookies look small so we ordered 1 each but the cookies are so thick we couldnt finish both our cookies but made a good snack later. The store front is very small but the staff was awesome and best of the...

This was my second visit to Levain Bakery. I must say the double chocolate chip cookies are better than the walnut chocolate chip cookies, which tend to be bit dry and crumbly. I also tried the cinnamon butter brioche--too dry and bland. I wanted to respond to the folks who gave terrible/poor reviews. It's unimportant that it's located in a...

After seeing this bakery on TV, I had to give it a try. My husband and I agree these are the best cookies we have ever devoured. We tried the chocolate/chocolate and the peanutbutter/chocolate. The cookies are not typical (flat-like), they are mounds of cookie that explode with every bite. Incredible! On our last day in NYC, I went back...

WOW. THE best cookies ever. We trekked up to find Levain after reading the reports on Trip Advisor, and we were certainly rewarded for the long walk. The cookies are phenomenal...if they can be described as cookies. Doorstep sized, and so moist and chewy - just thinking about them is making me want to book a flight back to NYC...

My husband will be 40 this year and we will be in NYC on the day of his birthday, he has planned his day with military precision and top of the list was coffee and a cookie from Levains. We have been to NYC eight times since our first visit in 2005 when we completely fell in love with the...

This is our second visit and the cookies are amazing! Our favourites are the chocolate chip and walnuts and the oatmeal and raisin. The location is very near the Natural History Museum. They are a great sized cookie!
