We were put in a tiny room with a double bed because of a reservation error, but the suggested replacement was just as small but had a queen-sized bed. I think this is the smallest room I have ever been given anywhere in the world in 40 years of travel. Unlike their website description: "The guestrooms evoke a European style...

I booked this place on Orbitz before I read the reviews here. I was a little concerned but after my three night stay, I have to say the hotel was just fine. Sure, it is OLD and the public areas of the building show it. My room was clean and neat and the bathroom was nicely remodeled with a shower...

Last summer, I visited New York for the first time. Needless to say, the search for a hotel previously to our departure was more than frustrating. In the end I just picked one - and, who would have thought it - I found a really nice hotel! The Mayfair is one of only a few hotels in that price range...

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night en route to joining a cruise ship. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. My first room was tiny and was fine for me but as a double room not enough room for two people. However this was not an issue. First impression apart from the size was ok, however...

I travel a lot, and stay in hotels all over the world. This is one of the most unique hotels I've stayed at - I can see why some people would love it and some people would hate it. It really depends what you're looking for and what is important to you. Positives: - Very attentive and friendly staff. Better...

The rooms are small but clean. There was some problem with the internet wifi when I was there, so I hardly used it.

This hotel is a good budget option. It is kept clean and is in a great location on 49th Street. It is far from luxurious, the rooms are really tiny, but the shower was good and the bed was comfy. If you are looking for a hotel just for sleeping in, the Mayfair is ideal.

The room was tiny but big enough for one person. Bed was huge, tv could have been better, and bathroom was small. Maids were very attentive to make sure to clean the room and change the sheets.

We stayed at the Mayfair for Marathon weekend 2010, the cost was nearly $200 cheaper than the race hotels we were looking at in midtown. We knew what we were getting into, an older, smaller hotel without the amenities of the chains. We essentially got exactly what we were looking for, great location, great rate (considering it was an event...

This is a fantastic location, right of Broadway in Midtown Manhattan just steps from a subway station. The hotel is old and cramped but clean.
