As so many other widely traveled people, I often am critical of hotels that are supposedly five star properties but end up being disappointing in some important respects. This was a special gift for Mothers Day. My wife and my daughter stayed for five nights on room 538. I joined them for the last two nights. Spacious and uncharacteristically quiet (for NYC that is) room with views to adjacent building. Great bathroom with elegant Molton Brown toiletries. What a terrific bed! I'm surprised by some of the negative comments. This was our first stay at the Pierre, and it was really an excellent experience. All staff we came in contact with were professional and courteous (check-in desk attendant escorted us to our suite, which was upgraded a notch through AMEX Platinum - elegant, spacious accomodations). Superb hotel in a superb location. Likely the best place I stayed so far in New York and it feels kind of cool when you bump into the city's mayor in the Lobby. The gym is a bit small for my standards but Central Park is right in front of you.

I have had a wonderful 4 day stay at the Pierre. Room was beautiful, bathroom clean, front desk and concierge very polite and helpful. Room service very good. Security very efficient - we had problems with the password safe and both times someone was there to fix it within minutes. We had a late check-out and even on this day...

Long closed after an extensive refurbishment, I am afraid to report the refurbished Pierre is not in good shape - it suffers from a problem that is not easily remedied: very bad management.
