OK, let's start off with something important: This is NOT a 5 star hotel, as some sites would lead you to believe. The service and quality is not even in the same ballpark as the St. Regis, which still has not been surpassed as the NYC standard bearer, IMHO.
It is, however, a great place to stay. The let me...

Our stay at this hotel has been great! Hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful. If we ever needed anything, the staff were very prompt with our requests. Also, I had the misfortune of catching a cold during our stay and when the general manager learned of this, she sent up an extra tissue box and some great tea...

Myself and my husband stayed at the Surrey for our honeymoon after recommendation from the travel company we booked through. If you are looking for something special and are willing to pay a little extra then The Surrey ticks all the boxes. We were on the top floor in a beautiful large room complete with a huge balcony. Room service...

loved the beds, could fit snow white and the seven dwarfs on one of the pillows, the view was magnificent, really felt like you were in NY. Shower was amazing, half the Hudson dropping on top of you head. Staff made you feel that you should be saying yes sir to them and offer to carry their coat, also regretted...

Stayed at The Surrey for 10 nights. Staff friendly and helpful (thank you Rocco). Had issues with the air con / heater - were moved effortlessly to another room. Close to Central Park. Enjoyed a great night at listening to Jazz (Woody Allen) to The Carlyle nearby. Lady M cake boutique in the neighboring street serves great tea and cakes.

Checking was quick but elevators were always slow and crowded. We lost precious time between slow room service and trying get out of the hotel and get a cab. The breakfast service at the expensive restaurant. Arrogant and slow waiters. Our room seemed outdated. The location is great with nice view from all windows.

Stayed here for a week via Expedia. Location upper east was fine for us as we love walking but it is a distance from the hub of the city... we loved the peace and quiet. Very close to Central Park though. Housekeeping first class, rooms nice but some (like ours) with no bath - however, the shower was fantastic. Dined...

From the minute we arrived at the Surrey Hotel, we knew it was going to be an exceptional experience. The staff could not have been more helpful. We were there for my birthday, and they brought a chocolate treat with a candle in it to the room and sang happy birthday. They even gave me a birthday card. The concierge...
