This review updates my prior review of The Carlyle from July of 2006, and relates specifically to stays at the hotel in August and October of 2010. These were my 15th and 16th stays at the hotel, respectively. The Carlyle continues to be one of my favorite hotels, worldwide. This is a hotel of timeless elegance and gentility, with a...

I got an amazing deal on the private sale site, SniqueAway, and stayed at the Carlyle over Valentine's Day weekend. I found the Carlyle to be the epitome of old New York style and grandeur. From the front desk to the white-gloved elevator operator to the cleaning staff, everyone we encountered was helpful and polished. The suite was the largest...

Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and location. They have done a wonderful job maintaining the integrity of the history of the hotel. My room was HUGE by any city's standards. Kiehls bath amenities were to die for. Service was top notch.

Just got back from a 4 night stay in a Superior Suite at the Carlyle. I'm 60 and have stayed at fine hotels all over Europe and in major US cities. This is the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Off the entrance hallway to our suite was a kitchenette with Formica counter tops and appliances that had seen better...

Stayed here for a NY weekend of shopping and dinning. Positives - good value for 5 star in NY and good value for the location which is great, upper east side. Continued positives - Captures Old New York with some really nice old world touches, elevator guys were great and along with the bellstaff and resturant guys, the only real...

This hotel was recommended a perfect place to recuperate after a surgical procedure. When I spoke to a reservationist she assured me that they would have a renovated suite with a kitchenette for me. I was given a seemingly lovely renovated one bedroom suite with a minibar, no kitchenette. Minibar frig was broken so we had to have another delivered....

My first trip to New York and this hotel definately catered to us. It was my birthday and received two upgrades and a note from the chef. This is definately upscale and fits the east side venue. There was coffee service outside the cafe for those early risers with a few mini muffins. A few mornings we just eat breakfast...

I've stayed here five times. The hotel expresses the best of NY grace style, from the fabulous art deco lobby to the public rooms. Not too big but not boutique and with great staff, it's the best place to stay in New York (the St Regis is good to but not at all as personal or cosy). The rooms are spacious...

Beware the spider beetles in your bed at the Caryle. They look like bed bugs and they do bite. The one I found was examined by a "professional" and declared not bed bug. Took four days to be identified as said beetle, after repeated requests for information. 10 bites on torso and thigh.

Dear Valued Guest, I remember your stay here and our conversation we had one morning in our lobby. Please allow me to extend my sincere apologies for the interruption you experienced during your stay. As you confirmed, the insect was verified by a pest control professional as a beetle. We apologize for the delay in obtaining the verification of the... more
