Anyone staying here needs to realize this is a guest house, not a hotel. You are paying for a room only. There is no common space, no lounge, no front desk, no doorman, and no staff whatsoever after 10 pm. To charge these prices for so little in the way of services, the rooms had better be pretty great, and...

We've just had a week in NY staying at Lafayette House. I booked it because I wanted to explore this part of Manhattan and come home to a working fireplace each chilly evening. Well - the location was great but the fireplace was a big disappointment. When I enquired about using it, I was told that as 'it wasn't winter...

I just stayed here on business for 4 nights. A friend had told me about it sometime ago and I had been meaning to give it a shot. As the UN conference was happenning the same week, rooms were hard to find and not only did Lafayette house deliver on availability, they also seemed to offer on cost. The room...

One of the nicest guesthouses in Manhattan is on a side street in the quickly being gentrified Bowery near all the East village boites and the boutiques of NoLiTa. Owned by the same duo behind the Maritime and Bowery hotels, of its 15 rooms, all have working fireplaces and cosy chic Parisian flea market decor. I also love that the...

Almost didn't write this review because i didn't want anyone else to find out how good this place was in case we couldn't get a room next time. Each room is unique and the style is old world brown stone new york, with a hint of a 1950's brothel vibe. Great bathrooms. Make sure to ask about the best rooms...

We ended our trip along the East Coast in NYC for my boyfriend's 40th birthday. He had stayed here for work once before and fell in love with the unique style and historic yet eclectic vibe. We had a bit of a snag when we first arrived with the booking- while the rooms on the ground floor are very nice,...

To get a sense of what Lafayette House is all about, read the previous reviews. The building and accoutrements ARE pretty special. It is not for everyone but serves a unique need in NYC....much more like a private house than a hotel. The downside is that a hotel set-up like this requires GREAT management and staff. The longtime manager was...

I've stayed in several hotels in NYC and I will never stay anywhere else but the Lafayette House ever again! It's a beautiful hotel in a great location. I was traveling with two teenages and our room had a queen sized bed and they brought in a very comfortable air mattress. The room is very large for a NYC hotel...

If you want a concierge telling you where to go, and hot and cold running lattes and a spa with an in-house masseuse, this isn't the place for you. But if you like the privacy and peace of being in a real house, sleeping in a huge room (suite-sized, really), right smack bang in Noho just a stroll from Soho...

The most fabulous room we've ever stayed in. Had soooo much character and warmth. Perfect location, perfect atmosphere and perfect service. We didn't want to leave and will definitely go back!
