What a great find! We ended up at the Alex from a corporate travel office referral and it was a joy. The suite was well layed out, trendy, and very comfortable. Location is perfect. While the accomodations are perfect, the staff are the real gems. Each and every one were more than helpful, polite, and ready to serve. My wife...

We booked a suite (two bedrooms and a lounge, two bathrooms) and were lucky to get one high up with a view of the Chrysler building. Perfect! The staff were friendly, the room clean and well looked after. The breakfast is really good.
The only issue we had was that they charge 15 dollars a day for wifi which is...

Travelled to NYC with my wife to visit our daughter and chose the Alex for it's midtown location close to Times Square and the theater district. After making a reservation on the web site, I signed up as an "Alex insider" to see if there were any inside deals to be had, sure enough a few days later I received...

Good
Convenient location just off 3rd Avenue - ideal for Midtown sightseeing / business
Clean
Could not locate any reports of bed bugs on internet
Plenty of space
Poor
Expensive room service and minibar - $7 for a small diet coke. Bring your own !
Decor rather dated - could do with redecoration in rooms and elevator lobby

This hotel was a great find. We were able to get a package with free 24 hour parking saving us over $50 and they upgraded us to a suite at check-in. The room was perfect, the ammenities were great, the service was helpful. I would stay here again every time I go to the city.

We stayed at The Alex for 3 nights and have nothing but praise for the hotel. It's in a great location (close to Grand Central Station and Times Square). The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. We had no problem with the shower as some previous reports have mentioned. The elevator was easy to use...

After spending more than $1,100 for two nights at the Alex, including a huge daily car parking charge, my car was delivered back to me at checkout by the hotel valet complete with a flat tire, which the car didn't have when I handed the car over to the hotel two days before. After an hour of "not our problem"...

This was our first and last stay at the Alex Hotel. The website trumpets it's affiliation with The Leading Hotels of the World, a collection of unique, boutique hotels. We've had the pleasure in staying in many of them and have never been disappointed.
The hotel had a few strange quirks we could live with:
- The room we had...

The Alex, with its mid-town, just off third avenue location, is a good base for exploring NYC. It is very easy to get cabs, buses, or to the near-by subway from its location. If you are a walker, you can be in the theater district, at Bloomies, or at MOMA in 20-30 minutes. The hotel must have been an apartment...

We loved your comment that you felt a sense of coming home rather than staying at a hotel and appreciate the level of detail included in your review. You pointed out some difficulty operating the shower dials which we will look into further to gain a better understanding. We’re pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay at The Alex and...
