Overall the location based on the event we were going to attend was OK - the hotel is located in Chelsea and you can walk everywhere. Yes! - as you will read in other reviews the rooms are small (it is New York); how much time will you be in the room? There is a bed; loo and shower -...

We were in New York to go to Carnegie Hall, I called AAA travel and they booked us with a Delta Vacation flight hotel etc. The flight and shuttle were fine but the hotel was on 36th street between 9th and 10th Avenue. It was a very small hotel with miniscule rooms for a very large price. All of that...

My first trip to new york city was a disaster because of this hotel. My wedding is only 2 months away and my fiance and I have bed bug bites all over our body. (30+ bites each) I'm hoping the 6 welts on my face won't scar before our wedding day.
The guy that was working there that night helped...

I wanted to stay at The GEMHotel in Chelsea, but the GEMHotel-Midtown West was a bit cheaper. It's within a ten-minute walk to Penn Station/Madison Square Gardens. The room is a bit small in terms of New York City standards. I wasn't able to fully move the chair away from the desk to swivel. The chair kept hitting the bed....

I stayed at The Gem Midtown the past two nights and had a very good experience. I had stayed at The Gem Chelsea before so I was aware of the smaller rooms, but the overall value of the hotel. I was headed to the Javits Center for a conference and was happy to see The Gem was within walking distance....

i have stayed at the gem hotel in chelsea a few times and since my meeting this time was close to penn station i decided to try the gem in midtown. the rates were around 20% less than chelsea. the location, on west 36th was convenient for my meeting, but certainly does not have the charm that the chelsea location...

We experienced the "typical New York hotel room" feeling here: a very small room on the 4th floor and with no view at all. However the room was clean and had everything that a hotel in this class should have (including free wifi). The staff was very friendly and helpful. This hotel is a 10 minute walk away from 34...

The hotel is your standard Manhattan boutique hotel: the whole place, including the lobby and rooms, are munchkin-sized. But the place was clean (even sleek), the bed was comfy, and the staff members were friendly and helpful. The downside is that the far-west, Midtown location is just plain lousy: it's somewhat grimy, it's near a busy tunnel, and it's a...

We had used 1800hotels who recommended this hotel for 2 single travels. Instead on the 2 beds reserved we were given a tiny room with one bed and no room for a cot (which they didn't have anyway). Fortunately I could stay with a friend in New Jersey! There is no doorman, no concierge, no amenities except mouthwash were provided....

Cleanliness of rooms leaves a lot to be desired (bathroom dirty and room dusty on arrival). Some staff were unhelpful, to the point of being rude (there were also a couple of lovely staff that were very helpful). Requests for top ups of essential items such as toilet paper were forgotten (until we reminded them for the 3rd time). Outside...
