I had the opportunity to stay at this property in May 2011 while in town for the BookExpo America show. The hotel is conveniently located close to both my office on 5th ave & 27th street, and it's a 20 minute walk from the Javits Center.
The design of the hotel is identical to that of the Hilton Garden Inn...

We stayed at this hotel, which I would say is in the Garment District, after a wonderful few days at a great hotel in Boston. This hotel was more expensive and just didn't compare in any way. First impressions matter and we walked up and down the street and couldn't see it - asked at a hotel over the road...

This hotel is on a dirty, grungy street. The entrance is under scaffolding and it is very unappealing. The elevators are totally inadequate -- you wait and wait, and then they come totally full and you have to take the stairs. The rooms are clean but smell of sickly sweet chemicals. The bathroom hardware is falling apart. The gym is...

This hotel has a boutique style to it that fits right in to the Chelsea area. The rooms are quite small but well appointed. No counter space in the bathroom.
Staff service was superlative throughout the hotel.
There are only two elevators for 20-something floors. Be prepared for a wait.
Internet access is $10 per day PER DEVICE. So if...

I would stay at this hotel again. Great location to all of NYC main attrachtions, very quick walk to two subways lines (1 & R lines) and Penn Station. The hotel is located on a quite area of 29th street, however, all the servies availabe on 7th and 8 th Street. The Hale and Healthy resturant on 7th avenue (less...

It's NOT a 4 start hotel like some places like Hotels.com rate it. The rooms are fine but the hotel is on par with a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn. In fact, I much prefer the Hampton in just a block or two over. You have to pay $10/day for internet and it goes out every 45 seconds, the lobby...

The hotel is smallish (some 15-20 yards or so across...), which translates into small rooms. Still, they managed to squeeze in two queen beds, a flatscreen tv, a bath tub and a marvellous view overlooking the Empire State Building. It is well-maintained, though - I consider it a typical four-star hotel, and I have seen many of those in various...

As a frequent Hilton guest, I expected more out of Doubletree. I have had great experiences with this chain in the past. The rooms are small. Dirty laundry as you arrive at the front door. NYC streets are smelly enough without having to run the gauntlet as you enter the hotel.

Had to stay overnight in NYC for a wedding. Hated paying so much for just a place to sleep and a parking space. Found this hotel and the reviews were good so we tried it. It was wonderful. Yes, the room is small. But you don't go to NY to spend time in your hotel room! For $22, we parked...

I stayed in other Doubletree Hotels previously, so I expected the good service and reasonable value for money that I got there, but got deeply disappointed.
Service:
I asked about the 'deposit' that one has to pay in the US - the amount is then 'reserved'. When one stays for a week in a good hotel it may mean a...
