My wife and I stayed at the Motel 6 in Collinsville without performing our normal routine of checking TripAdvisor. Boy, we won't make that mistake again! Late at night, we pulled into the Motel 6 off of I-70 in Collinsville, IL. After some difficulty conversing with the night clerk who was not proficient with English, I was surprised at the...

We stayed at the Motel 6 on the first night of our trip from Chicagoland to Arizona. The room was clean and the kids enjoyed the pool. The hotel is conviently located near the I-55/ I-70 exit and has many places to eat nearby (Denny's is right next door, a Waffle House, Houlihans and Steak N Shake are nearby). The...

We chose to stay here after a Cardinal game. I have stayed in other Motel 6's and they were nice. This one was nasty. Wallpaper peeling, water staines on the ceiling, toilet ran all night. Floor did not look clean. The room just smelled. I would choose to stay somewhere else next time.

We stopped in Collinsville to see the Cahokia Mounds (which are amazing, by the way!). As we looked at a brochure listing hotels in the town, we noticed that this 'Best Western' was the only one with an outdoor pool, so we decided to stay there. When we arrived, we found that the brochure's Best Western, on Ramada Boulevard, was...

OK for 1-2 nights, max. The other reviews were both very positive and very negative, so we didn't know what to expect. We went down to Collinsville specifically to check out the "International Horseradish Festival". For 2007, this was a Very Small festival, but a great diversion to start the summer. It may have been bigger other years, but we...

I phoned a day ahead of time, and when we got to the motel the walkways and steps did not look the cleaniness but I figured not big deal. We get to our room and the bed is not made and towels are on the floor. The carpet was dirty, it was a mess. I went back to the front...

The front reception desk area was constantly in a stench of cigarette smoke, and the adjacent breakfast area and internet site were also affected. The female desk staff were totally indifferent. At the paltry continental breakfast, you could have any juice you liked as long as it was warm apple, and the coffee creamer was powder. Ever had powder in...

The staff at the Best Western In Collinsville is the rudest staff I have ever dealt with. We stayed as part of a very large group, 40+ rooms for 2 nights and on multiple occasions, we had patrons hung up on during calls to the front desk. The rooms were extremely dirty and several of the rooms that we had...

A great location: handy to the Interstate, to downtown Collinsville, and to the Cahokia Mounds. You can even see the St. Louis Arch from in front of the office. I had a comfortable, spacious ground-floor room, directly adjacent to the Denny's Restaurant. The price was attractive. The pool was nice.

There are many choices of places to stay around St. Louis, and for those of you just passing through, I would recommend a stay at the Pear Tree Inn [Best Western] in Collinsville. It has easy access to the Interstate and there is a Denny's next door, so if the "free" breakfast doesn't interest you, you can have a warm...
