Check in was efficient - we asked for a free upgrade (never expecting to actually get one!) and were pleasantly surprised when we were moved from the 3rd floor up to the 8th and given a room with a balcony and view overlooking the Elizabeth park with excellent views of the cathedral and the Buda hills. Rooms facing the other...

I don't have anything original to add to the previous reviews. Rooms great, decor elegant and not overdone, location very good, right on top of the main metro connecting station. Buses run past the door and a good hop-on/hop-off bus tour starts right across the street.
The other big plus is that we found all the staff very helpful and...

The Meridien is really a great hotel with a lot of charm. The lobby and esp. the restaurant are magnificent (this was an historical building from 1914-18, and you can still feel it). The rooms are large and extremely tasteful (in a classical style, much better than the bland corporate rooms of other luxury hotels). Bathrooms are also very large...

Great location!!! However, it must have been a national holiday for the housekeeping staff, for the last year! The carpet wasn't high quality when it was put in and now it's even worse. The furniture is threadbare! Needless to say it takes you back to what communist Hungary must have been like.

Stayed there 2 times. Last time for 3 nights. And I will stay there again. It has become my favourite hotel in Budapest. The room and especially the bed is really fantastic. Breakfast is excellent (the best scrumbled eggs and very good marinated salmon). Service is excellent: at the reception desk, in the bar, the cleaning staff, all personnel is...

We have just returned from 3 nights staying at this hotel for my 40th birthday - I have to admit that I have no idea how much it cost (and I suspect it was a lot) but we had a lovely corner room on the 6th floor, which was huge. Amazing shower. The breakfast was one of the best I...

I am a regular international business traveller and Starwood Preferred Guest and have enjoyed their hotels worldwide therefore I decided to book Le Meridien in Budapest for a short city break with my wife. We booked the hotel three months before and had received the appropriate confirmations etc.
Imagine our surprise when we arrived, at 6:00 p.m., to be told...

Dear Valued Guest,
My apologies that we were not able to accommodate you in our hotel. Heavy overbooking is not something we do out of choice and it was only on the personal request and intervention of the Prime Minister, asking us to assist, that we did on this occasion. We immediately arranged accommodation in other 5 star hotels (who...

The location was great. We didnt want to stay by the river but we wanted to be in a great location, this was it! Easy, easy, easy access from the train station via metro. Just do it, dont be afraid of the metro it is simple. Another hotel where no-one seems to dine in the establishment-there are many options near...
