Staff were very very friendly, and spoke fantastic English when our Japanese was shaky. Reception is 24 hour too, which helps you feel safe and looked after. Free internet services were readily available upon request, for use in bedrooms, not just lobby. Did not try either of the restaurants on site, but a variety of good places to eat surround...

We have booked a deluxe corner twin room overlooking the park on 12/F. One of the mattress slanted, hardly can sleep on it (photo attached)

The hotel room was adequate in size and importantly quiet and comfortable. The bathroom, as is to be expected, was compact. The staff were very helpful despite limited English. Vending machines outside the rooms for water and snacks at reasonable prices was handy. The shuttle service map on the hotel website is confusing as the top of the map is...

Reading the reviews on this hotel on Tripadvisor I was fully expecting the staff not to speak English, the rooms to be matchboxes, etc. But I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff at Reception all communicated perfectly well, were very polite and helpful. I left my bag at the front desk before check in with no problems (this was a...

Excellent value average hotel in the heart of Tokyo. If no frills, easy and well priced is you thing then you will feel ok about this hotel to. I spent a week there and have no complaints. The location is good, the service professional to. There is computers for Internet ¥100 per 15 min and sometimes wifi in the lobby...

This is my second stay at Shinjuku New City and I have to say that they are still my budget hotel of choice. Location: The hotel is located about a 15-25 min walk from Shinjuku station. Timing of coz depends on who is walking (I'm tiny versus my husband who's really tall) and the weather! The hotel does provide a...

A nice, clean business and leisure focused hotel: no frills and no extras. Lovely large and clean room (double), with standard pod unit bathroom and surprisingly large and comfortable bed. Nice location. We walked into Shinjuku most days for a wander and explore. Hotel is about a ten/fifteen minute walk from Shinjuku station. Quiet parkside location. Staff were very helpful,...

The location was a bit annoying especially when you are tired. The staff don't speak much English I think this is because the hotel is aimed towards the Japanese business man. But I found the hotel met my needs and was a very good price. The bus stop is hard to find but that is because shinjuku station is so...

The New City Hotel in Shinjuku is fine for a couple of nights stay in Tokyo. Very basic and comfortable as well as being suprisingly quiet. However, for evidence of Japan's lost decades, look no further than the New City Hotel. Probably built in the early 80s and nothing has really changed. The lobby is distinctly 1979 except for the...
