between this and the British Museum in London. BUT and this is a BIG BUT this place is HUGE you could spend a week in here and not see everything. So for those who have travelled a bit and seen stuff like the Egyptian, Greek, Assyrian, European Painting and Asian Art elsewhere then go to the bit which you won't...

What a museum - the whole world under one roof. The collections outstanding, the shows wonderful - stil the excitement of the Alexander McQueen show under my skin. If we need to live at one place for the rest of our life? Let's move into the Metropolitan!

This is an amazing art museum, I have been to it four times. It is amazing. It is a great site, and they have fabulous exhibits and amazing art and sculptures. The staff is very nice, but get there early, is a still a tourist attraction.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is like the Louvre in Paris in that you can't see it all in one day. You wouldn't be doing it justice. The exhibits require time and thought as they are all very thorough and beautiful. On our day there, we saw the Egyptian exhibit, the Arms and Armory Court, and the Asian art exhibit....

You might think...not another museum. Well, I can definitely say there are some very impressive exhibits in this museum. If you're pressed for time (like all travelers are) the museum gives you a guide with pictures/mentions of their best exhibits and we ran around from one room to the next viewing them. I also went to the Cloisters first thing...

It's huge collection of amazing art from around the world, spanning thousands of years. We visited twice during a recent trip to NYC and only saw a small fraction of the museum. On the weekend, surprisingly good street performers (singing & dancing groups) on the plaza by the front steps were an added attraction as we entered and left. The...

English visitors can think of the Met as a combination of the National Gallery and the British Museum. It is overall probably around the size of the Gallery, which is still pretty freaking huge. They've done a good job with the audio guides as well, speaking as someone who is a big time history buff but not especially familiar with...

I love to soak in the character of a place I visit and a museum is a good place to do that. In the case of the Met, it has a 'global' flavour rather than NY flavour, but I was very impressed with the art collection. I would happily have invested many more hours if i could! They had a...

Remeber to have a drink and enjoy the great view from Metropolitan roof cafe/longe. There is usually some kind of art installation. It is a nice half-an hour to finish the Metropolitan visit.
