After reading about the many baths in Budapest and wanting to visit one whilst in the city we decided on Szechenyi. It is situated right outside Szechenyi Furdo station, look for the big building with the dome, as it was slightly confusing on first coming out of the station as there are no sign posts and you are in the...

hot or cold weather this place would be great. we went towards the end of a hot afternoon, and began in the huge outdoor pool (37 degrees) it was not too busy at that time. we then wandered in to try out the indoor selection, a variety of medicinal pools of different temperatures. unfortunately these baths which are very pleasant,...

Had a blast at the Szechenyi Baths in early May/11. The entry procedure is very easy, the list of services/prices on the right of the cashier is in Hungarian, the list on the left is in English. It seemed to be all young people working there and all that we encountered spoke some English and were very pleasant/happy. The entry...

We decided to skip the Gellert due to it allegedly having only separate baths for men an women during weekdays, and instead settled for the Szechenyi. A bit anxious about the procedure, we paid the reasonable fee and were given a wristband and a pointer to the respecive locker rooms.
I struggled a bit with the armband, but the process...

make a day of it and visit the baths. It's surreal to be outside in the cold and then dip into a really warm pool. Around the whirlpool is a current which carries you around in a circle. Inside the beautiful building are a number of many pools at different temperatures. I'd definately recommend you visit the baths for a...

I will echo most of the comments here that this is a 'must' experience for any visit to Budapest. Although it might be a little different for most Americans, everyone makes you feel right at home and in no time your are having a blast. A couple of things to mention: 1) the 40 degree Celsius pool has a sign...

On my third trip to Budapest, and third trip to the Szechenyi baths, me and my girlfriend decided to get a massage. Obviously I love the baths but would not go back for the massage. Got the impression the massuse could not be bothered, the twenty sighs were a give away. Also, when she noticed it was two tourists for...

We were a bit worried after reading some reviews about this place but there really wasn't anything to worry about. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon when we arrived at Szechenyi Baths so it was quite busy with locals as well as many tourists.
All of the signs and instructions are in English as well as Hungarian and the staff...

We were a bit anxious as we had little idea of what to expect, but after getting over the initial strangeness, we felt right at home with the locals. We received a rubber wristband that served to lock anda locker. We brought towels and flip flops and that was a good idea. Bathing caps not required unless you...

This is brilliant. The building is fabulous and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Entrance fee includes - spa pools, saunas, swim pool, plunge pools. Spend all day hopping in and out. Tips: you can hire swim gear, towels, and bathing caps, or take your own. Think about taking flip flops too. Bathing cap only needed if you want to...
